Training session for community staff, council members and community organisations within LGDR Activity

Training needs assessment in 8 Project target communities within component 1 “Training, capacity building and technical tupport for accountable governance” has been conducted by “Communities Finance Officers” Association within the framework of Local Governance and Decentralization Reform Project, funded by USAID and implemented by Armenian Territorial Development Fund (ATDF). Several qualitative and quantitative research methods have been combined by the expert group, to ensure the efficiency and addressability of community training needs identification and assessment. The identification of training needs of each target community was implemented through interviews and focus group discussions. 8 topics were identified in a result of research. As continuation, 11 training courses for 8 target community and community organisations’ staff and council members were organized during September-October, and 13 training courses will be organisated in November-December. Local governance institutional and legal aspects, relations between RA public management and local governance bodies, the peculiarities of formation and operation of community staff were presented to participants during the trainings. The aspects of community services’ provision, a toolkit for residents' participation in community management, cross-community units, community economic development, as well as organization of council activity were also discussed. Practical tasks and teamwork were also completed, which were analyzed and summarized as a result of joint discussions, in order to develop the skills and abilities of the participants of the training courses on the mentioned above local self-government topics. It should be mentioned, that the training courses in 8 target communities will be continued during the next year as well. In total, 48 training courses are planned for more than 400 participants.
